This swept hilt rapier was common among the 17th century European gentry. Lightly designed, this sword allowed for fluid movement during attacks. Many of these types of swords were crafted in Spain due to high quality Spanish craftsmanship. The elaborate cage guard of this rapier was designed to protect the hand of the person wielding it; however, its styling is attractive. This rapier has a 36 inch polished steel blade and leather scabbard. The blade is not designed to be sharpened. The overall length of this sword is 42 inches.
