Civil War Swords

Wielded on the Battlefield during the Civil War, these edged weapons were usually marks of rank. Swords or sabres were the most common used during that conflict. 

Cavalrymen however brandished there swords and used them for the full purpose. Swords were later phased out during the Civil War, replaced by more effective Weapons.
